The Emerald Princess Baltic Cruise: Editor's Review

There’s nothing like cruising and watching the sun set on one side of the deck, while the full moon turns the ocean into sparkling silver on the other. Northern Europe twilight is a spectacular time of day and what better way to experience it, than from deck 16 on the glamorous Emerald Princess?

I just returned from a 14 day cruise through the Baltic, visiting Saint Petersburg, Copenhagen and Helsinki, to name a few. For our wonderful members who are thinking of booking a cruise sometime soon (and those of you who simply love to armchair travel), here’s a firsthand look at the adventure awaiting on the Emerald Princess.

Let’s Take a Quick Tour

As soon as you step foot into the Piazza on deck 5, after checking in for your cruise, you’re swept into a world of chandeliers, sweeping staircases, music, mayhem and entertainment. The overall vibe is old-world elegance, with an ample dash of fun and comedy.

Take a tour of the ship and you soon become overwhelmed with the options awaiting. Decedent lounges, plush bars, a bustling casino, themed restaurants, a spa and cosy library beckon to be explored…and that’s all before stepping outside into the ocean breeze and wide decks.

Families splash in one pool as movies play at the open-air cinema, couples relax in whirlpools as they watch the wake left behind by the giant, floating hotel and sun-worshippers recline at yet another pool on loungers you never have to fight to find. Then there’s outdoor mini-golf, areas just for the kids and tweens and duty-free shopping to give your credit card a serious work-out, if you choose.

As for the accommodation, from the interior cabins to balcony suites, all the rooms are modern in design, fresh and beautifully welcoming after a long day of sight-seeing and fun, on and off the ship.

Heaven for Foodies

Let’s face it, there’s just something about being able to eat an endless variety of scrumptious food at any time of day or night. The Emerald Princess is a gourmet paradise, with so many options you can barely scrape the surface. Not to mention the variety of signature cocktails at the beautifully themed bars…

From traditional dining rooms serving 3-course meals, to casual buffets, café bites and specialty restaurants, your tastebuds are on high-alert at all times! A recent addition to the ship, SHARE by celebrity chef, Curtis Stone, is a highlight with hand-crafted meals and fresh ingredients, including seafood and organic produce. To top it off, its location on one of the top decks means incredible sea views from the elegant interior.

Superior Service and Ease of Travel

The crew on board the Emerald Princess are friendly, efficient, professional and, most importantly, a whole lot of fun. Nothing is too much trouble and you’ll always find staff available to meet your every need.

The Baltic cruise includes numerous tour options to explore Bruges, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Saint Petersburg and Gdansk and travel couldn’t be easier. Simply choose your preferred tour, jump on a comfortable, air-conditioned bus and enjoy the stories of local experts as they guide you throughout the highlights of each destination.

As the Sun Sets

You could spend every evening on deck with a cocktail, watching the sky change from dusky pink to startling orange as the stars start to twinkle, but there’s simply too much action to enjoy in the ship’s bars, lounges and the plush Princess Theatre.

From acrobats and pianists in the Piazza, to live bands in the Wheelhouse Bar, glittering musicals and famous guest entertainers, every night is filled with a schedule that’s perfect for your dancing shoes. While most nights are casual, those with a penchant for dressing up can enjoy formal nights, when the ship comes alive with glitz and glamour.

The only problem with an Emerald Princess cruise? Having to say goodbye on the final day!
