21 Things To Do To Kill Time When Delayed At The Airport [Infographic]
We can all agree there are few things more exciting than arriving at the airport in advance of a holiday.
With all our bags packed, currency exchanged and sunglasses at the ready, our excitement reaches its peak.
However, there are a few things that no one particularly enjoys about the start of a holiday.
Security and Customs
One of the more tedious things is the process of going through customs. The security protocol can vary in different countries, with some taking a while and feeling pretty tedious.
In fact, the Guardian produced this article discussing the countries with the most intimidating border officials. The US came out on top, with the UK border staff rated as the sixth most intimidating.
Another thing none of us exactly enjoy is the whole process of flying. Regardless of how well you plan your seating, people nearby almost always end up making the flight unenjoyable, to say the least.
There are lots of different types of potentially disturbing people you may encounter on a plane, from the stranger who decides to nap on your shoulder, to the person who kicks the back of your seat.
As usual, Buzzed perfectly summed up all of the different types of flyers in the form of a list of GIFs which you can see here.
Probably the worst part of any holiday travel is the possibility of flight delays. It is fair to say that there are few things worse than looking up at the departures board to find that your flight has been put back a few hours.
Airports are generally designed so that we can pass through, pick up a few duty-free items and then quickly board our planes. Because of this, they don’t necessarily make for the best place to spend many hours in a row.
So, if you are unfortunate enough to encounter flight delays, how on Earth do you kill the time without being consumed by boredom?
