Marrakech truly is a beautiful city and a visit to Marrakech is nothing short of magical. However, the weather in Marrakech can cause discomfort to some. It is best to visit the marvellous Marrakech during the spring and autumn season. March, April, May, October and November make for the best months to visit Marrakech. The climate of Marrakech particularly comprises very hot summers and moderately cool winters. The springs and autumns in Marrakech are mildly warm to hot. Marrakech doesn’t receive much rainfall and it is perennially sunny. The nights in Marrakech experience a quick fall in temperature.
Spring and autumn are the best times to visit Marrakech. The average temperature is 22 degrees Celsius in March and about 28 degrees by May. The large drop in temperature makes the nights pretty cold in March. April is pleasantly cool and May is pleasantly warm. The rainfall is pretty low, but comes and goes in short intervals. Spring experiences sandstorms blowing in the wind. The sandstorms travel from the Sahara and can be a little harsh, but they mostly occur at night.
Summer lasts from June till September. The skies are absolutely clear and the sun, blazing. There is no rain during summer and this makes it extremely hot and can be unbearable. On an average, temperatures range between 30 and 37 degrees Celsius in August and can shoot up to 40 degrees. The temperature falls at night again to about 20 degrees, which still makes the nights quite warm. The nights in June are much cooler where the temperature drops to 16 degrees Celsius on an average. Marrakech is a land-locked city and the lack of water bodies within the city makes it difficult to escape the heat. This also makes the humidity low and hence a little more bearable.
Autumn exists in the months of October and November. Autumn is also a brilliant time to visit the beautiful Marrakech. October experiences an average temperature of 28 degrees while November experiences 22 degrees. The nights are refreshingly cool and make up for the warmth during the day. Temperatures at night can drop to 14 degrees and sometimes, 10 degrees as well. The rain is usually accompanied by thunderstorms. This can lead to flash flooding, but there is no real damage done.
Winter begins in December and lasts till February in Marrakech. The temperatures are mild during the day and cold at nights. In winter, temperatures reach the other extreme as the nights experience drops till about 6 degrees. The average temperature during the day is about 20 degrees. Sometimes during the nights, which are quite rarely, the temperatures are freezing. It is a great time to visit the city for the day, but you’ll have to make arrangements for the extremely cold temperatures at night.
